Adalo is a no-code app builder. You drag screens together, connect a database and publish to the web, the App Store and Google Play. It is one of the older tools in this space and many Dubai founders try it before they talk to an agency. The useful question is not whether Adalo works. On sticker price Adalo wins year one. A founder on Starter with both store accounts pays about AED 2,042 in the first year. The gap narrows once you count the hours spent building it yourself, the plan jump needed for a second app or more editors, and the cost of rebuilding later because the code cannot leave the platform. How Adalo plan limits shape your bill
Adalo’s pricing is flatter than most AI builders. The page states “No usage-based charges” and includes the Ada AI assistant on every plan, so a busy month of users does not add a metered bill. The limits that move you up a tier are structural:
- Published apps. Starter publishes 1 app, Professional 2 and Team 5. A customer app plus a separate staff or driver app already needs Professional.
- Editors. Starter has 1 editor. Bringing in a designer or developer means Professional (5) or Team (10).
- Records and storage. Free stops at 500 records per app. Paid plans list 5GB, 25GB and 125GB of storage per team.
- Features gated by tier. Push notifications, custom actions and analytics start on Professional. Version history, the Collections API and white labelling start on Team.
That model is easy to forecast, which is a real strength. The risk is not the monthly fee. It is that the app lives on Adalo’s runtime, so outgrowing it means starting again rather than moving code.
Where an Adalo app stops being enough in the UAE
A no-code builder gives you the components it ships. It does not know what a UAE regulator, an enterprise buyer or a payment provider will ask next. Four gaps show up on most Dubai projects we review.
PDPL and data location
The UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) expects a lawful basis, purpose limits and proper security for personal data. An official Adalo forum answer from 2023 says its data centres are on AWS in the United States. The pricing page mentions Adalo Blue, an enterprise offer with dedicated infrastructure and on-premise deployment, but lists no UAE region for standard plans. Code ownership and exit
In August 2025 an Adalo team member wrote on the official forum that it is not possible to download your app’s source code, and that the timeline for such a feature is not known. Adalo does produce native iOS and Android builds for the stores. You can keep publishing them, but you cannot hand the code to another team. Plan the exit before you have 10,000 users, not after.
Arabic and right-to-left
Adalo’s pricing page does not mention Arabic or right-to-left layouts. Mirrored navigation, Arabic typography, mixed-direction forms and RTL-aware lists need deliberate design and testing on real phones. Drag-and-drop screens often look right in English and break when the locale flips.
UAE payments
