Short answer: Bolt.new’s pricing page lists Pro at US$25 a month (from 10M tokens) and Teams at US$30 per member a month, so the subscription runs roughly AED 1,100 a year per builder before you outgrow your token allowance. A custom-built app from a Dubai studio costs more on day one — Aquarius custom apps start at a fixed AED 10,000 — but the price buys a set scope, engineers accountable for PDPL, Arabic right-to-left and UAE payments, and no token meter running every time you ask for a change.
Bolt.new is one of the fastest ways to turn a prompt into a running web app, and many Dubai founders now arrive at our door with a Bolt prototype already live. The decision is rarely “Bolt or custom” in the abstract. It is “how far can I take this prototype before UAE customers, payments and data rules force a proper build?” This guide sets Bolt’s published 2026 pricing against a fixed-scope custom build and shows where the line usually falls.
Key takeaways
- Bolt.new prices in US dollars: Free at $0, Pro at $25/month, Teams at $30/month per member, and Enterprise on custom pricing. Yearly billing saves up to 28%.
- Usage is metered in tokens. Bolt says most tokens go on syncing your project’s file system to the AI, so bigger projects cost more tokens per message.
- Paid-plan tokens roll over for one extra month, and only while your paid subscription stays active.
- Bolt does not do the UAE-specific work for you: PDPL-aware data design, production Arabic RTL, local payment gateways and a security review. That is what a custom build is paying for.
Bolt.new vs custom app: 2026 cost comparison
Bolt.new figures below come from bolt.new/pricing as checked on 13 October 2026 (monthly billing), converted at the fixed 3.6725 AED/USD peg. UAE VAT at 5% may apply on top of either route.
| Option | Published price | Approx. AED per year | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bolt Free | US$0 | AED 0 | 300K tokens a day and 1M a month, Bolt branding on sites, 10MB uploads, hosting up to 333k web requests |
| Bolt Pro | US$25/month | ≈ AED 1,100 | From 10M tokens a month with no daily limit, no Bolt branding, custom domains, 100MB uploads, hosting up to 1M web requests |
| Bolt Teams | US$30/month per member | ≈ AED 1,320 per member | Everything in Pro plus centralized billing, team access management, admin controls, private NPM registries |
| Bolt Enterprise | Custom | Quote only | SSO, audit logs, compliance support, custom SLAs, data governance and retention policies |
| Aquarius Custom App | From AED 10,000, fixed scope | One-off build, then optional retainer | Custom web or mobile app, AI features, auth, payments, dashboards, API integrations, 30-day launch support |
On sticker price, Bolt wins year one easily: three builders on Teams come to about AED 3,960 a year. The gap closes once you count founder hours spent prompting, tokens burned on rework, and the cost of fixing what the prototype skipped. We ran the same comparison for a rival builder in Lovable vs custom app development in Dubai.
How Bolt.new tokens shape your monthly bill
Tokens are Bolt’s unit of AI usage, and the pricing FAQ is specific about how they behave:
- Project size drives cost. Bolt says most token usage comes from syncing your project’s file system to the AI. As the app grows, each message uses more tokens, so a mature project burns through an allowance faster than the first week did.
- Rollover is limited. Since 1 July 2025, unused paid-plan tokens roll over for one additional month (valid for up to two months in total), and rollover needs an active paid subscription.
- Team tokens are not pooled. On Teams, each member gets their own token allotment; tokens are not shared across the team.
- Free has hard caps. The Free plan stops at 300,000 tokens a day and 1M a month.
The practical effect: your spend follows how often you iterate and how large the codebase has become, not a scope agreed in advance. That suits exploration. It is harder to defend in an investor model or a corporate budget than a fixed build quote with milestones.
Where a Bolt prototype stops being enough in the UAE
An AI builder generates what you ask for. It does not know what a UAE regulator, enterprise buyer or payment provider will ask next. Four gaps appear on almost every Dubai project we review:
PDPL and data handling
The UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) expects a lawful basis, purpose limits and proper security for personal data. Bolt’s pricing page offers unlimited databases and a choice of database provider on Pro, but it does not name a hosting region, so you must confirm where customer data actually lives. Our UAE PDPL compliance checklist for apps lists what to settle before launch.
Arabic and right-to-left
Mirrored layouts, Arabic typography, mixed-direction form fields and RTL-aware charts need deliberate design and testing on real phones. Generated screens often look right in English and break the moment the locale flips.
UAE payments and messaging
Local gateways, 3-D Secure, VAT-correct invoices carrying your TRN, and WhatsApp or SMS OTP all need server-side integration and test cards. Budget real engineering time for it.
Security review
AI-generated apps can ship with open database rules, missing authorisation checks or secrets in client code. If your Bolt build is already live, read what it costs to audit or rescue a vibe-coded app in Dubai before you push traffic to it.
Ownership, lock-in and accountability
Bolt’s pricing page covers plans, tokens, hosting and databases; it does not set out code ownership terms, so read Bolt’s own terms before you commit customer data or a funding round to a Bolt-hosted app. Ask the same of any builder: can you export the full codebase, move the database, and run it on infrastructure you choose?
Even with full export, owning code is not owning a maintainable product. Generated code is only as sound as the prompts and reviews behind it. Someone has to read it, test it and answer for it when a payment fails at 2am. With a custom build, that accountability is written into the contract.
When Bolt.new wins, and when custom wins
| Situation | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Validating an idea with a few dozen users | Bolt.new | Cheapest, fastest way to learn if anyone wants it |
| Internal tool with no customer personal data | Bolt.new | Low PDPL exposure; speed beats polish |
| Investor demo or clickable pitch | Bolt.new | A working demo in days for under AED 100 a month |
| Customer-facing app taking AED payments | Custom | Gateway, VAT invoicing and 3-D Secure need tested server code |
| Bilingual Arabic/English product | Custom | Production RTL needs design work and device testing |
| Native iOS/Android with push and offline | Custom | Device APIs, store review and offline sync need native engineering |
A path that works for many founders: prove demand in Bolt, then hand the validated flows to a studio for a fixed-scope production build. The prototype becomes the specification, which shortens discovery and lowers the quote.
Aquarius custom apps: AI-native delivery, fixed AED price
We use AI in delivery as well — it is why our prices sit below a traditional Dubai agency. The difference is that engineers own the architecture, review every line, and sign off PDPL data handling, Arabic RTL and payments before launch. Prices exclude 5% VAT:
| Aquarius tier | Price | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Starter Site | From AED 500 | Simple website, live fast |
| Business Site | From AED 2,500 | Multi-page site with AI chat, EN/AR ready |
| Custom App | From AED 10,000 | AI web and mobile apps: auth, payments, dashboards, API integrations, 30-day launch support |
Every tier is on our transparent AED pricing page, and our web and app development services page lists what we build.
FAQ
How much does Bolt.new cost in the UAE in 2026?
Bolt.new’s pricing page lists Free at US$0, Pro at US$25 a month and Teams at US$30 per member a month, with Enterprise on custom pricing. That is roughly AED 1,100 and AED 1,320 a year per builder at the 3.6725 peg, before VAT. Yearly billing saves up to 28%.
Do Bolt.new tokens roll over?
Partly. Bolt says unused paid-plan tokens roll over for one additional month, valid for up to two months in total, and only while you keep an active paid subscription. Free-plan tokens are capped at 300,000 a day and 1M a month.
Why does my Bolt.new project use more tokens over time?
Bolt explains that most token usage comes from syncing the project’s file system to the AI. Larger projects send more context with every message, so each change costs more tokens as the app grows.
Is a Bolt.new app PDPL compliant?
No builder makes an app compliant by itself. PDPL compliance depends on where personal data is stored, who can access it, how consent is captured and how deletion requests are handled. Bolt’s pricing page does not name a hosting region, so confirm data location before launch.
How much does a custom app cost in Dubai compared with Bolt.new?
Aquarius custom apps start at a fixed AED 10,000, against roughly AED 1,100 a year per builder for Bolt Pro. Bolt is cheaper to start; custom wins once you need AED payments, Arabic RTL, PDPL-ready data handling and a team accountable for the code.
